So here’s what I’m up to in October.
October 3, 2017
1. Trying to find a cadence to my writing and figuring out how often to post. I have a lot of content that I would love to write about. It’s trying to make sure that I deliver in a way that is satisfactory to me. My benchmarks for posting include answering these questions: Was it authentic? Am I proud of the work I published? Would I find it useful? Did it feel alive?
2. There is a lot of backend work that goes into running a site so I’m learning about everything from SSL certificates to plugins. The learning curve is steep but thankfully the web has a lot of great resources for WordPress. It’s more about digging around, reading multiple sources, and testing out the best approach for the site.
3. Planning our upcoming trip to Rome! We booked this trip back in the spring when airfare was incredibly cheap and we just couldn’t resist. The kids half term happens to also always fall near my birthday. Lucky me! We love the food in Rome but after watching Anthony Bourdain’s The Layover – Rome, there are some new places that we are dying to go eat at.
4. The kids are finally in a rhythm. Now we just need to incorporate the homework that has suddenly become much more serious for my oldest. So trying to balance the kids and school, Brian’s travel, and keeping up with this site has kept me incredibly busy. It’s a challenge and one that I wake up everyday asking myself how I need to structure my day. I’m still working out the best method for me. So far it’s working ok but not great. Stay tuned!
