November has been off to a slow start due to the kids half-term break which saw us taking a 5 day trip to Rome. We had an amazing time. Since Brian and I have been to Rome, this trip was all about showing the kids the sites and eating the food! My computer(s) have also both been in the shop since returning. Both are old and had many issues that I could no longer troubleshoot through online resources. I have them both back now so hopefully I’ll be able to jump right back into the writing.
So here’s what I’m focused on in November to the end of the year.
1. Writing, writing, writing. I have a lot of posts in various stages of completion. Some are almost ready. Some I’m not ready to release yet. Most of my posts require are least 5-10 rewrites and edits. It takes a while for me to get from my original thoughts to what I actually publish. This includes finding the right photos, links, and structure.
2. Working through the reader experience of my site. Trying to figure out the best way to organise the site so that it’s easy to read and search. Doing that means that I have to do such things as reading up on the difference between a page and a post and how it affects SEO.
3. Focusing on finding fun things for the family to do this holiday season. We had a great time last year exploring London and will continue some of those traditions. I’m looking to see if there is anything new that is worthy to add. One of the most enjoyable English experiences we had last year was attending a holiday pantomime. It was incredible and we all had so much fun.
4. I finally found an accountant! This is one of the biggest accomplishments of my expat life. Sounds super dramatic but taxes are just a pain in the a** as an expat. It’s been on my list forever. A task I’ve been dreading and I’m relieved to have finally found someone that can do both UK and US taxes at a reasonable price.
