My theme for 2018 is SLOW. I need to slow down, do less, and focus on what’s most important. I have a tendency to get excited over many things and then become overwhelmed with the laundry list of things that “need” to get done. This year, my plan is to just slow down.
I’ve found that slowing down forces me to think about what is truly providing me the most joy or benefit. This can range from taking 30 minutes to sit down and read or solving a household logistics problem that has been nagging me.
For things that are tedious, I’ve employed this question from Tim Ferriss: What would it look like if it were easy? I have found that it gives me a different perspective on the situation and there is usually an easier solution (then the one I want to execute) that will net the same result.
Some things don’t need to be done perfectly. They just need to get done.
We are trying to get back on to a schedule after an amazing holiday break. It’s like a slow crawl back to real life. On the blog side, I’ve committed to writing more blog posts and posting on a more regular basis. I also want to create a lot more resource based content for this site, so I’ll be working on what that exactly looks like.
As for now, Happy New Year! May 2018 be a year of slow, joyful moments.
